Winston Preparatory School (WPS) is a co-ed day school for students through 12th grade with learning differences such as dyslexia, nonverbal learning disabilities, expressive or receptive language disorders and executive functioning problems and ADHD. Winston Prep’s mission is to facilitate the independence of individuals with learning difficulties through assessment driven individualized education, research and outreach. Our unique educational program for middle and upper school students with learning differences is designed to develop essential skills and challenge his or her strengths. Winston has seven campuses including its newest in Marin County, California. Winston Preparatory School seeks an Associate/Assistant Director of Admissions and Teacher for the Marin County Campus. Reporting to the Head of School, the successful candidate will assist in a variety of admissions activities including, engaging prospective families, scheduling, database management, and monitoring the application process. This position serves an essential role in maintaining a highly efficient admissions office. As a new campus within an established, nationally recognized school network, this position requires an “all hands on deck” attitude. The Associate/Assistant Director of Admissions and Teacher will also lend their time to classroom teaching responsibilities. In addition to admissions experience, the ideal candidate possesses a degree in education and special education teaching experience. This is an ideal opportunity for a teacher interested in transitioning into education administration. The position is a 12-month role. Responsibilities: - Assist the Head of School and Assistant Head of School in student recruitment and enrollment.
- Become knowledgeable and well versed of the school’s mission, educational philosophy, teaching methods, and brand messaging to share and advise various prospective applicants.
- Communicate directly with prospective families, and cultivate long-lasting relationships with prospective and current families.
- Respond to online, phone, and email requests for admissions information and questions about the WPS educational program in a timely manner.
- Maintain applicant database (SchoolAdmin) and internal admissions tracking reports.
- Organize, schedule and confirm parent appointments and student interviews.
- Assess prospective students for appropriate placement with WPS.
- Coordinate follow-up with prospective families after appointments and interviews.
- Follow-up with applicants with outstanding application materials.
- Manage open house RSVPs and guest lists (virtual and in-person when the situation permits).
Additional Responsibilities: - Provide direct instructional support to students with learning differences in a positive environment within a variety of subjects.
- Plan and conduct activities for a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and work time that provides students with opportunities to become independent, resilient, responsible, and self-aware learners.
- Perform related work as required.
Qualifications - Bachelor's degree with minimum of 2-5 years of Admissions experience
- Special education teaching experience is preferred
- Excellent writing, communication, interpersonal, and grammar skills
- Must be detail-oriented, organized and willing to take initiative
- Experience with independent schools preferred
- Self-starter with a drive to make things happen.
- Able to independently manage time and understand the importance of deadlines.
- Excellent computer and database skills. Proficiency in Google Drive, Microsoft Office Suite, knowledge of SchoolAdmin or similar admissions and enrollment management software a plus.
- The successful candidate will be a highly professional, creative thinker who is flexible and works well within a team environment.
