Position Purpose: The Director of Advancement is the senior leader of the Advancement team, sits on the institutional leadership team, is a member of the School’s senior leadership team, and reports directly to the President, serving as a thought partner and strategic advisor on fundraising and community engagement matters. The Director of Advancement provides strategic direction and leadership for all PHS Advancement efforts, ensuring a coordinated and donor-centered approach. The Director is responsible for designing and implementing a comprehensive advancement program; creating and maintaining ties and support with donors, alumnae, and friends; and recruiting, supporting, and developing the Advancement team. An effective leader in this position will have significant campaign and major gift fundraising experience, and possess a proven ability to inspire, motivate, and provide leadership as an advocate and fundraiser. This job is accomplished through the individual’s own direct efforts as well as managing others and effectively leveraging the skills and volunteer contributions of PHS parents and alumni, board members, and staff. The Director is responsible for designing and implementing comprehensive plans focused on increasing fundraising outcomes and effectiveness, as well as engaging with and promoting the School internally and externally through a comprehensive inclusive community engagement plan which is integrated with the public relations program. The Director works closely with the Advancement Committee of the Board, serving as the committee liaison, and provides input and recommendations for Board recruitment to the Governance Committee. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: - Plan and oversee all fundraising and community engagement activities and events.
- Manage and lead the advancement department which includes a staff of five.
- Create and lead programs that effectively deploy the President, staff, and key volunteers to foster relationships, build partnerships, create awareness, and generate support for the School’s mission.
- Create and execute Advancement plans with clearly defined objectives, timelines, budgets, and assignment of responsibilities for the following services: annual fund, special events, corporate/foundation relations, alumnae and inclusive community engagement, operations/database management, prospect research and donor stewardship, planned and major gifts.
- Cultivate, solicit, and steward a portfolio of principal and major giving donors and prospects.
- Oversee, evaluate, and manage all processes, procedures, programs, budgets, and events for strong return on investment.
- Provide visionary and strategic leadership that allows all members of the team to understand their roles and contribution to achieve individual and team goals.
- Set clearly defined and achievable revenue goals for the team.
- Oversee and ensure that all advancement communications and marketing materials are strategic and unified with the overall school communications plan.
- Provide regular and/or special fundraising reports as required by the President, Board of Directors, and/or other appropriate volunteer organizations.
- Represent the School to various constituencies, including donors and alumnae.
- Interact with the School community to create a culture of inclusion and philanthropic partnership.
- Other duties and special projects as assigned.

Work Direction: The following positions report to this position: Alumnae Director Annual Fund Manager Community Engagement & Stewardship Director Advancement Assistant/Database Manager/Gift Processor Advancement Assistant (P/T) General Guidelines: - Recommends initiatives and implements changes to improve quality and services.
- Identifies and determines cause of problems; develops and presents recommendations for improvement of established processes and practices.
- Maintains contact with parents, alumnae, supporters, administration and/or other stakeholders and solicits feedback for improved services.
- Maximizes productivity through use of appropriate tools; planned training and performance initiatives.
- Researches and develops resources that create timely and efficient workflow.
- Prepares progress reports; informs supervisor of project status; and deviation from goals. Ensures completeness, accuracy and timeliness of all operational functions.
- Prepares and submits reports as requested and required.
- Develops and implements guidelines to support the functions of the unit.
