Greens Farms Academy seeks an Upper School English teacher to begin in August 2021. The new teacher would carry a full courseload of English classes and will possibly mentor students in the 11th and 12th grades who are pursuing small-group or individual inquiry projects in creative writing or literary studies. The teacher will join a thriving and experienced 5th-12th grade department of 12 faculty members committed to discussion-based classes, textual analysis based on close reading, a process approach to writing, and support for students as they publish and perform their work. GFA faculty are typically involved outside the classroom in a variety of ways, including advising, chaperoning trips and events, leading extracurricular clubs, and/or coaching. The ideal candidate will have at least five years of teaching experience, an advanced degree in English or a related field, a student-centered approach, deep and diverse literary interests, and a passion for working with upper school students. For all positions, we look for candidates who enjoy working with colleagues in a collaborative environment; are flexible, creative, and adaptable; demonstrate a willingness to fully engage in the life of the school in and outside of the classroom; and are committed to equity, inclusion and fostering a culture of belonging for all students under our care.
