Position Description: Trinity Valley School is seeking a full-time Assistant Head of Middle School beginning July 1, 2021. The Middle School at Trinity Valley School: The TVS Middle School strives to create a nurturing educational experience that meets the unique social, emotional, and cognitive needs of middle-school students while fostering creative problem solving, innovative thinking, and community connection each and every day. The Middle School is much more than a bridge to our Upper School. It provides a foundation of independence and leadership, and through a blend of traditional and unique programming, teachers provide students with the tools to be successful inside and outside of the classroom, and more importantly in life. Accordingly, the school seeks candidates who love working with middle-school-aged children and place students at the heart of their instructional and administrative practice. The Assistant Head of Middle School reports directly to the Head of Middle School and is responsible for managing student discipline and expectations. In addition, s/he coordinates the Middle School student advisory program, monitors students’ academic and social progress, provides support to students and faculty, facilitates communication with parents when concerns arise, and keeps the Head of Middle School informed on student matters. Additional Responsibilities: - oversees the Skills for Tomorrow Program in grades 5 and 6
- supervises the MS Student Committees program
- participates in TOE (Trojan Outdoor Experience) trips in grades 5-8
- coordinates Middle School assembly programming
- regularly identifies opportunities for more student community involvement (guest speakers, community service and outreach, etc.)
- supports the New-student Orientation program
- coordinates grade reporting
- supports student scheduling
- identifies ways to strengthen school spirit, including supervising all Middle School socials/dances and first-week-of-school activities
