The Roland Park Country School Mathematics Department empowers our students to be confident in their mathematical abilities and to achieve a deep level of mathematical reasoning. We strive to develop mathematicians who can transfer their skills to solve new and complicated problems, rather than simply presenting one way of solving equations. Our program relies on an integrated approach to studying mathematics. We focus on problem-solving, critical thinking and drawing connections among different mathematical concepts. For our core math curriculum, we use the problem sets authored by the faculty of Phillips Exeter Academy. Throughout their years in the Upper School, students study algebra, geometry, trigonometry and precalculus in the core program. In addition, they have the opportunity to take electives on a variety of topics, including advanced placement (AP) classes. The Mathematics Department is seeking a qualified individual for a full-time position, teaching two of our core courses, in addition to other advanced courses and the possibility of STEM electives. The Mathematics Department is a collaborative environment: teamwork is central to our work. Many of our courses have multiple sections which require the teachers to work collaboratively to design the course, develop instructional resources, and support students. The department also works to support all students in the math program by offering extensive extra help through our Math Workshop and office hours. Lastly, our department members are committed to on-going professional development. As our program continues to evolve, we regularly partner with other educators and academic institutions to help hone our craft. We are looking for a dynamic and collaborative individual who is willing to teach our core program and is passionate about teaching a blend of algebra, geometry, trigonometry and precalculus. There are also potential opportunities to teach a section of Physics and/or in our STEM Institute for interested candidates. Key Responsibilities: - Teach four sections within our core program ranging from Algebra I through Precalculus
