THE JUNE SHELTON SCHOOL AND EVALUATION CENTER OPENING FOR ATHLETIC DIRECTOR July 1, 2021 Dallas, TX Shelton School The June Shelton School and Evaluation Center, located in Dallas, Texas, has announced its search for an Athletic Director to begin July 1, 2021. Founded in 1976, Shelton is a private, non-profit, non- denominational, co-ed school serving approximately 1,000 intelligent and motivated students with learning differences (LD) in grades EC through 12. While the school is clearly the centerpiece of its mission, Shelton is more than a school. It encompasses three other major components open to the community—a speech- language-hearing center, an evaluation center, and an outreach/teacher-training center. The School is accredited through Independent Schools Association of the Southwest (ISAS) as well as the Montessori Accreditation Council for Teacher Education (MACTE), International Dyslexia Association (IDA), and the International Multisensory Structured Language Council (IMSLC). Shelton has membership in a number of professional organizations and collaborates with major medical institutions in the Dallas area, including Children’s Medical Center and UT Southwestern Medical Center. Shelton is recognized worldwide as the leading educational institution for learning differences. As a key leader of the School, the Athletic Director is a member of Shelton’s Administrative Team and reports to the Executive Director. S/he is responsible for the administration and supervision of the athletic program in accordance with the School’s mission and provides the leadership necessary for the effective day-to-day operation of the department. The Athletic Director supervises the department’s administrative assistants, athletic trainer, physical education teachers, and all coaches within the Athletic Department. The successful candidate will understand and embrace the mission of The Shelton School, possess unquestionable character and integrity, exhibit exceptional interpersonal skills and leadership ability, and demonstrate excellent organizational, communication, and managerial skills. It is also essential that the new Athletic Director be wholeheartedly supportive of families who have children with learning differences.
