Details Posted: February 3, 2021 Location: Manchester, New Hampshire Show Map Salary: To be determined Type: Full Time - Faculty Category: Visual/Performing Arts Required Education: 4 Year Degree The Derryfield School Creative Arts department seeks an enthusiastic, collaborative, and interdisciplinary visual artist and teacher to begin August 2021. As a faculty member, the candidate must lead as a positive educator and role model for the School community of students, parents, alumni, trustees and colleagues. Faculty member’s general duties include teaching 3-5 classes, leading two additional school activities (coaching sports or the equivalent), advising students, and participating in a variety of school events as a leader or chaperone. Essential Duties and Responsibilities of the Art Teacher: Demonstrate and teach in a range of 2D and 3D media appropriate for both middle and upper school visual art classes. Media may include, drawing, painting, sculpture, digital arts, fashion, and architecture. Elevate and support learning, creativity and self-expression of the students. Support Lyceum Gallery Manager with 4-5 annual exhibitions. Promote student engagement in the visual arts through annual Scholastic Arts participation. The ideal candidate will be an educator with: A degree in visual arts and/or visual arts education (preferably a Masters Degree) An energetic, patient and inspiring presence as a teacher and leader, with a sense of humor. Successful classroom teaching experience and experience with implementing technology and multimedia in the classroom. A proven commitment to the development of young people as individual learners. Demonstrable computer literacy skills. An active studio art practice outside of the classroom. A collaborative and team-oriented style. A commitment to developing the character, global citizenship and an appreciation of people from diverse backgrounds in students. Interest in curriculum development within and across disciplines.
