Details Posted: February 4, 2021 Location: Atlanta, Georgia Show Map Salary: Based on experience Type: Part Time - Faculty Category: Visual/Performing Arts Required Education: 4 Year Degree The Dance program at Galloway is designed to expose students to a variety of dance styles and techniques for the sake of enrichment, physical fitness, artistic expression, and training for future dance opportunities. The Dance Teacher understands Galloway’s mission to draw students joyfully into learning and oversees a program that is engaging and challenging to students, faculty, and the Galloway Community. The Dance Teacher supervises and assists students in a project-driven environment, creating programs and lessons that capture student imaginations, encourage creativity and individuality, hone artistry and technique and build a passion for the arts. The Dance Teacher is responsible for teaching four sections of classes in dance and related disciplines, with the broad view of integrating the arts in the school curriculum and fostering interactions between the school and the world of the arts. PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES To provide the leadership and expertise necessary to ensure that the program is aligned with the mission, goals, and objectives of The Galloway School, and is an integral component of the learning/instructional program. The Dance Teacher: Teaches four sections of dance and related disciplines. Produces two productions a year, either specific to dance or in collaboration with the fine arts department. Supports dance aspects of musical theatre productions as needed. Maintains a creative and safe studio environment. Understands teaching and learning from a student-centered perspective, including actively modeling methods and techniques with dance students. Plans and prepares lessons, programs, and materials to effectively teach abstract and concrete concepts and meet course goals. Observes and evaluates student’s work, provides critique and monitors progress. Organizes and accompanies students on field trips to art locations and events. Works collaboratively with faculty and staff to design a differentiated, globally integrated curriculum, including project-based units. Has strong organizational, management, and communication skills. Can establish and maintain productive relations with others.
