The successful candidate: Will contribute to our mission through the following activities and responsibilities: - Work collaboratively with family members, homeroom teachers, the World Language department, and other staff to achieve positive outcomes for all students.
- Ensure classroom arrangement, materials, and displays are organized, culturally responsive, and conducive to children’s learning.
- Provide in-person and/or virtual classroom experiences that are developmentally, linguistically, and culturally age-appropriate for the children served.
- Designing and facilitating rigorous, empowering lesson plans that are student-centered and thought-provoking.
- Being intellectually curious and having the desire to spark a love of learning in students.
- Have a genuine appreciation of elementary-aged students, a sense of humor, and the ability to work well within a fast-paced environment.
- Document student’s progress through ongoing observation and direct assessment activities, using data to plan and individualize curriculum.
- Have the ability to teach language through communication, culture, connections, comparisons, and communities.
- Present engaging assemblies to an audience of Pre-K through grade 4 students on IB Learner Profile traits.
Will possess: - Near-native proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking Spanish and English
- A warm and friendly personality
- Dedication to meeting the needs of diverse student learners
- A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
Qualifications: - 2 to 3 years of teaching experience
- Excellent oral and written communication skills;
- Excellent listening skills;
- Comfortable differentiating instruction;
- Classroom management skills;
