Head of Junior School Located in the Annex neighbourhood in downtown Toronto, Royal St. George's College is an urban day school for boys that combines academic excellence with a stimulating and supportive environment. RSGC offers a challenging program of academics, athletics, the arts, outdoor education, community outreach and co-curricular activities designed to fulfill our College’s Vision of “lifelong Georgians ready to use their scholarship, compassion, conscience and courage to make a difference.” Following a 19-year tenure of exceptional leadership, our vibrant Junior School has an extraordinary opportunity to welcome a new Head of Junior School for the start of the 2021/2022 academic school year. We are looking for an innovative, collaborative and passionate leader who will continue to build on a strong foundation of academic excellence, the love of children, a commitment to progressive education and the nurturing of a meaningful and productive learning environment full of joy and laughter. With a population of approximately 150 students and 25 faculty and staff, our Junior School is a community of respect and mutual learning where each individual is known and loved. This is a full-time permanent position reporting to the Headmaster of the College. In addition to having overall responsibility for, and oversight of, all aspects of the day-to-day operation of the Junior School, the Head of Junior School will be a key member of the Senior Leadership Team and will be integral to supporting, inspiring and mentoring faculty and staff to deliver on the Mission of the College, “To challenge and inspire each boy to be the best version of himself.” The successful candidate is a lifelong learner, exploring, considering and evaluating new developments in educational excellence and working alongside the Junior School Director of Teaching and Learning and our remarkable faculty to implement and adopt progressive practices in the classroom. An exceptional communicator and relationship manager, the successful candidate will bring demonstrated interpersonal and collaborative skills to the role. They will be able to maintain and deepen the culture of community among colleagues, students and families that is the hallmark of the RSGC experience. A strong decision-maker and communicator, the successful candidate will have a proven ability to manage a variety of issues, consider all factors and act with integrity and empathy. The successful candidate will lead with a manifest love of children. They will bring compassion, patience, energy and enthusiasm to the work.
