Steward the liberal arts curriculum, ordering and streamlining. In particular, examine the AP’s, standardized testing, electives, and fine arts;

Bachelor’s degree required; Master's degree or post-graduate certification preferred;

Collaborate with Head of School to develop a long-term strategic curriculum plan;

Oversee Master Teachers and faculty;
-
Work with the Master Teachers to develop their role and strengthen their departments;

Oversee the faculty professional development (including observations and mentoring);
-
Oversee faculty hiring and training and mentoring for new faculty; to serve as a consultant to teachers in matters of classroom management, teaching methods, and general school procedures.

Observe, supervise, and help evaluate the faculty in the development and implementation of curriculum; to supervise the teaching process, and to review and evaluate the academic programs;

Lead Academic Policies/Curriculum in the articulation of the school mission, school goals, department goals, course objectives, materials, methods and means of assessment;

Oversee and direct the activities of the Master Teachers and faculty committees.

Establish programs for the orientation of new teachers, for in-service training of all teachers, and for the evaluation of classroom teachers to ensure that teachers are familiar with and adhere to school policies in all areas of the school operation;

Strive for unity, harmony, and cooperation through tact, helpfulness, respect, and a recognition of individual differences and the special abilities and strengths of each teacher.

Coordinate the academic calendar (with Admin Assistant);

Oversee progress reports and comment writing process (with Admin Assistant);

Coordinate parent/teacher/mentor conferences (with admin assistant);
-
Coordinate standardized testing (with Admin Assistant and Director of College Counseling);

Work closely with accreditation team;
-
Approve field trips in conjunction with the Dean of Students;
-
Conduct regular meetings with faculty which will deal both with routine school matters and with the stimulating exchange of ideas on issues of educational/philosophical interest and concern;

Oversee the grading and the reporting of standards and methods used by teachers in measuring student achievement;

Work in conjunction with the Academic Advisor and scheduling team to prepare a master school class schedule and to assign teachers and students to classes and other obligations;

Oversee the Learning Specialist and collaboratively coordinate the support of students with special academic needs; and
-
Oversee the Registrar's Office.
