Details Posted: February 9, 2021 Location: Denver, Colorado Show Map Salary: $33,000–55,000 Type: Part Time - Faculty Categories: Other, Special Needs Preferred Education: Masters The Middle School Learning Specialist supports middle school students with learning strategies, executive function coaching and individual instruction/intervention. This is a new position at St. Elizabeth’s. The Middle School Learning Specialist will collaborate closely with the Director of Learning Support, the middle school faculty and the leadership team to develop an effective learning support framework for the middle school. The Middle School Learning Specialist is an 80% position. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Provide one-on-one and small-group intervention for students, both in push-in and pull-out depending on needs Assess student growth and use data to inform instruction and intervention Build collaborative relationships with families in a way that honors their voices and wisdom as a cherished part of a student’s educational team Build collaborative relationships with Middle School faculty Work with classroom teachers to understand and create a sustainable and effective plan for recommendations of all Psych-Ed evaluations Collaborate with the admissions team to screen potential applicants for learning support needs Work collaboratively with DPS to create 504 plans for any students with learning needs that are preparing to transition out of St. Elizabeth’s Build community with students and families for advocacy, education and connection Collaborate with Middle School teaching teams to design UDL instruction, build accommodations and modifications into lesson plans and student materials Develop and maintain communication and documentation related to learning support. Attend faculty meetings, division level meetings, professional development opportunities and perform other duties as determined by the Head of School Bachelor’s degree in special education or related field. Master’s degree or equivalent training, strongly preferred. 3-5 years as a learning specialist, special education teacher, or related role. Experience working with students and families from underrepresented groups and/or have limited access to resources Confidence and experience with Middle School reading, writing, and mathematics In-depth experience with a broad range of educational technology tools Extensive experience and training with: equity in education, implicit bias, assistive technology, executive function, UDL and a wide range of complex learning needs, strongly preferred.
