Details Posted: February 9, 2021 Location: Brooklyn, New York Show Map Type: Full Time - Faculty Category: Visual/Performing Arts Preferred Education: Masters Start Date: August 30, 2021 Bay Ridge Prep, a progressive, student-centered, K-12 independent school located in Brooklyn, New York, is seeking a full time Lower and Middle School Theater and Music Teacher for the 2021-2022 school year. The ideal candidate is a team player who will demonstrate creativity, a strong work ethic, solid organizational skills, and a passionate desire to have children experience the joy of theater and music. Responsibilities include: Teach three grades of Lower School drama/music classes. Teach 7th and 8th grade Middle School drama classes with culminating showcase productions. Teach 6th grade drama as one of three arts rotations offered to that grade. Lead a Middle School choir, glee club or other club offering once weekly. Direct an annual 5th grade play or musical. Advise and lead an established Jr. Thespian Troupe. Serve as a Middle School homeroom advisor. Work collaboratively within a team of teaching artists who support each other’s projects throughout the school year, coordinating arts events and sharing resources. Participate in faculty and departmental meetings, special activities and rotational duties. Communicate effectively with parents and guardians. Desired qualifications include: Masters degree in educational theatre. Teaching experience Experience directing children’s theatre. Strong music skills, preferably in voice and piano. Passion and creative vision for working with Lower and Middle School children. Strong time management and organizational skills.
