Providence Country Day School, an independent school serving students in grades 5-12, seeks an experienced, enthusiastic educator who is exceptionally well prepared in the academic field of chemistry to join our Science Department.  The Upper School Chemistry Instructor is responsible for teaching Chemistry and Honors Chemistry at the high school level, and creating a dynamic learning environment for students in the class.  Candidates who are also confident in and qualified to teach physics, computer science and/or other science electives are strongly encouraged to apply.

PCD follows the “Physics First' sequence in the Upper School with students learning conceptual physics in 9th grade, chemistry in 10th, and biology in 11th.  The Chemistry Instructor is expected to effectively plan and conduct activities for a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and active student engagement that encourages students to observe, question, investigate and problem solve.  Our classrooms at PCD are safe spaces for our students where we emphasize mutual respect, inclusivity and positive reinforcement through instruction that effectively engages students with a variety of learning styles.  The ideal candidate will participate in the planning, development and evaluation of the chemistry curriculum, course materials and methods of instruction.
