We are seeking a Middle School Math teacher for grades 4-8. Math in grades 4 & 5 is taught in heterogeneous classrooms with the House Advisor as co-teacher. The ideal teacher enjoys inquiry and insights by a broad range of math learners and is familiar with curricular innovations to enhance math learning beyond traditional methods. Applicants should be enthusiastic about working collaboratively to design curricula that address the whole child. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: - Teaching four sections in Grades 4 & 5 with focus on operational fluency, number sense and number theory, fractions, decimals and geometry
- Working with individual and small groups of students in weekly Lab periods
- Meeting with co-teachers and the Middle School Math Department
- Possibly working with students in Grades 6-8 through math clubs/teams
Qualifications: - Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in education or mathematics preferred
- Experience teaching similar math content is required
- Experience with 4th and 5th grade aged children and knowledge of mathematics content through Algebra 1 are preferred
- Passionate and knowledgeable about progressive middle school mathematics education, problem-based teaching and learning and differentiation
