THE NUEVA SCHOOL Payroll and Human Resources Administrator Closing Date: 3/20/21 The Position The Nueva School seeks an experienced financial professional with strong payroll, human resources, accounting, analytical, financial, and related business skills and experience. This professional must have great people skills; a positive, friendly, and ‘can do’ demeanor; have excellent verbal and written communications skills; and be able to work collaboratively and independently. Expected start date in mid-May. Responsibilities - Process complex and detailed payroll with accuracy and timeliness
- Initiate employee agreements, including all stipend, independent contractor, and athletics agreements. Maintain current and former employee personnel records with pertinent payroll, contact, and other related data
- Responsible for payroll related journal entries reporting, statistics, compensation studies, and analysis
- Key contact with payroll and retirement plan providers TriNet, Principal and TIAA-Cref
- Assist with employee on-boarding and termination processes and logistics
- Oversee annual ERISA audit; filing of 5500 and delivery of required annual notices
- Responsible for managing certain school programs billing and payments
- Support financial awards process
- Prepare and process related accounting transactions, reconciliations, analysis and reporting, including annual survey preparation
- Provide support for financial statement, benefits and program, audits
- Research and respond to inquiries in a timely and professional manner
- Other projects and responsibilities, as assigned
Qualifications - Minimum of ten years accounting, finance, human resources, payroll, and /or related experience and /or equivalent education
- Confidentiality, discretion, and excellent judgment a must
- Experience with third party payroll processors, such as TriNet, preferred
- Education, independent school, and/or nonprofit experience, a plus
- Must be highly organized and able to work collaboratively and independently
- Must have strong attention to detail, able to meet deadlines, and have flexibility in handling shifting priorities
- Able to take a creative and analytical approach to problem-solving
- Good customer service skills, excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills
- Must have strong PC skills, including intermediate Excel proficiencies
