Senior Director of Development The Bryn Mawr School seeks to hire a Senior Development Director to plan, direct and advance Bryn Mawr’s fundraising, including the major gifts program, annual fund, planned giving, special events and capital campaigns. The Senior Director reports directly to the Head of School, serves on the senior administrative team and works closely with the Board of Trustees.
Key Objectives: - Embrace the mission and daily experience of Bryn Mawr, spending time getting to know the history, vision and community that drives the institution.
- Collaborate with the Head of School, Assistant Head for Finance and Administration and Board of Trustees to develop fundraising goals, strategies and action steps that align with and support the mission of the school.
- Lead a team that builds and sustains relationships in the Bryn Mawr community that fosters philanthropic support of the mission and goals of the school. This includes all constituents such as parents, past parents, grandparents, alumnae, trustees and friends of the school.
- Partner with the Communications team to develop a strong fundraising brand, implement a digital and analog fundraising strategy, and engage the greater community through thoughtful and regular communications.
- Serve as the primary liaison to the Board of Trustees Development Committee and Committee on Trustees, jointly setting agendas, reporting on the fundraising progress of the school, researching the next generation of Board members and planning ahead for the next major campaign.
- Serve on the senior administrative team to ensure Development support for delivering the mission, strategic plan and priorities of the school.
- Represent the school on campus, in the community and across the country to build a strong network of philanthropic support.
Specific Responsibilities: - Manage the Development Office activities including advancement services and record management, annual giving, major gift solicitation, planned giving, donor relations, alumnae and parent engagement, trustee relations and campaign planning.
- Create and implement a yearly development action plan that includes annual fundraising, solicitation of major gifts, donor cultivation and stewardship.
- Manage a portfolio of approximately 75 top donors to raise funds directly.
- Co-develop and oversee the annual giving program, The Fund for Bryn Mawr, raising approximately 5% of the total annual budget of the school through mailings and digital solicitations.
- Grow the major gifts program including identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of major donors.
- Develop and track prospect-specific proposals to foundations, corporations and individuals for fundraising initiatives.
- Build Bryn Mawr’s planned giving program, focusing on deferred gifts through bequests.
- Oversee constituent engagement efforts such as volunteer fundraising, alumnae relations, parent engagement and giving, and trustee relations.
- Oversee advancement services such as data entry, gift processing, stewardship and prospect research with direct experience with and understanding of Raiser’s Edge.
- Oversee publications to support fund raising activities, including the annual Report on Giving.
- Speak passionately about the mission, vision and needs of the school in public appearances, speaking engagements and digital formats.
- Coordinate special events related to fundraising and friend-raising.
- Annually evaluate the successes and growth opportunities for the other members of the Development team.
- Manage the Development Office budget.
