Germantown Academy, located in Fort Washington, Pennsylvania, is seeking qualified, experienced candidates for the position of Dean of Students, beginning July 2021. Position Purpose: Reporting to the Head of Upper School, the Upper School Dean of Students will facilitate the evolution of a holistic and future-oriented curriculum dedicated to the socio-emotional growth and well-being of Upper School students at Germantown Academy. The Upper School Dean of Students will work to envision and facilitate integration and delivery of co-curricular programming dedicated to this aim, helping to ensure that the division sets the standard for what post-2020 education can and should offer teenagers. Key Responsibilities: - Teach two classes.
- Serve on Upper School leadership team with Head of Upper School, Upper School Dean of Faculty, and House Head Director.
- Oversee development of curriculum for advisory programming focusing on student socio-emotional growth and well-being, including intersections with community-wide assemblies and programming.
- Collaborate with program directors to facilitate and coordinate alignment and integration of the Upper School’s co-curricular programs, including Service Learning, Senior Project, and Student Activities. Work to ensure alignment of division’s co-curricular programs with NAIS’ 21st-century competencies.
- Oversee disciplinary proceedings in the Upper School, including oversight of Honor Council and the envisioning and oversight of a non-academic disciplinary response process.
- Oversee House Head team, including working with the Head of Upper School and House Head Director in setting of House Head meeting agendas to pursue the vitality and curricular impact of the Upper School’s House system.
- Work with Head of Upper School to develop and oversee evaluation process for Upper School advisors and House Heads.
- Collaborate with House Head Director to envision and execute meaningful, deliberate, and mission-aligned student programming, including orientations, retreats, and leadership training.
- Collaborate with Counseling Team and House Heads to oversee holistic support structures for students in crisis.
- Collaborate with the Upper School leadership team to ensure the smooth functioning of the day-to-day operations in the Upper School.

- Demonstrated experience leading and facilitating conversations about student socio-emotional well-being.
- Demonstrated creativity in program development.
- A strong work ethic and passion for education.
- Previous management experience required.
- Advanced degree preferred.
