SUMMARY Rivermont Collegiate seeks an energetic, proactive, and expert director of teaching and learning to develop and implement programs that bridge gaps between teachers' teaching and learners' learning. This position will oversee the Academic Achievement Center designed to provide supplemental support and instruction to students. The director of teaching and learning is a full-time, year-round, benefit-eligible position, reporting to the headmaster and assistant head of school for academics. The ideal candidate will have expertise and experience in curriculum design and alignment, instructional methods, assessment design, academic interventions, and accommodations. Serving as the school's learning support specialist, the Director of Teaching and Learning works closely with the headmaster, assistant head of school for academics, director of faculty, and teachers. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - Develop and deliver professional development and ongoing support for faculty in curriculum design, instructional methods, assessment methods, and alignment.
- Continuously monitor student achievement by analyzing independent work, standardized tests results, and other data points in order to facilitate interventions.
- Advise the faculty director, assistant head for academics, and headmaster on systemic and individual matters impacting to student outcomes.
- Oversee the students of concern list, coordinating and communicating with teachers, parents, and students as needed, ensuring student success.
- Operate the Academic Achievement Center, coordinating subject specialist "office hours," after school, as needed.
- Teaching 3-4 academic classes in the Academic Achievement Center and making it available for drop-in support/guided study during planning periods.
- Developing, scheduling, and supervising a cadre of student tutors.
- Conduct classroom observations and follow-up with targeted feedback and support to help teachers become even more effective.
- Collaborates with the director of faculty to complete teacher performance evaluations.
- Attend weekly leadership team meetings and collaborate on organizational decisions.
- Clearly articulate student performance goals for each grade level and work with teachers to set measurable student goals in individual classes.
- Lead the implementation of habits of success within the grade level and classroom community.
- Facilitate PLC meetings for Early School, Lower School, Middle & Upper School.
