Details Posted: February 18, 2021 Location: New York, New York Show Map Salary: $60,000 - $100,000 based on ex Type: Full Time - Administration Categories: Director of Studies/Curriculum, Division Head/Principal, Early Childhood Preferred Education: 4 Year Degree Goal of this Role: To support the operational functions of classrooms/school for aspects related to day-to-day function of student, teacher and parent needs. Responsible for assisting the Educational Director with overall management of Barrow Street Nursery School which provides early childhood education each weekday for children ages two through five. The Associate Educational Director will help to select, supervise and provide professional development for faculty. S/he will also help faculty with children who have special needs and will assist in coordinating services. S/he will support the admissions and exmissions process. This is an administrative, full year position and summer is required. Hours during the school year would be approximately 8:00 – 5:00. The title of this role would be determined by applicant experience and qualifications. Duties would include: Helping to create school master schedule, which includes specialist teachers and parent and teacher workshops Oversee specialist teachers (Music, Art, Movement, Science and Pottery) Organizing musical and storytelling performances throughout the year for children (and parents) Assisting with Parents Association project implementation Working to support teachers and families who have Children with Special Rights (coordinating support and framing conversations with families) Supporting higher level professional development goals of classroom teachers, working to create a specific project of interest for each teachers Helps to promote the schools message and values by communicating those ideals clearly with prospective parents and other constituents. Supports the school’s effort in diversity, equity and inclusion mission. Other duties as needed to help the Director on other aspects of her job that fit the talents of the particular holder of the Associate Director position. Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree required Master's degree preferred Certified NY License in early childhood preferred Degree in Early Childhood Education preferred but not required. Prior programmatic and administrative experience in school programs preferred Minimum of five years of experience working with young children. Candidate’s pedagogy should be student-centered and practiced in differentiated instruction. Cultural competence, a willingness to work closely with families and excellent listening skills are essential. Strong organizational, interpersonal (adults and children), technological and communication (written and oral) skills. Careful attention to accuracy, detail and visual presentation of materials. Working history demonstrating flexibility, creativity, initiative and collaboration. Resourcefulness in administrative tasks, but also an understanding of the dynamics of the school and the ability to proactively respond to a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and frequent deadlines. Initiative, sound judgement and an ability to respond calmly and resourcefully in an environment with shifting priorities. Understanding of the “big picture” and inter dependencies of the school.
