Details Posted: February 19, 2021 Location: Fort Wayne, Indiana Show Map Type: Full Time - Faculty Category: Visual/Performing Arts Required Education: 4 Year Degree Supervisor: High School Division Director Start Date: August 18, 2021 Job Summary: Canterbury School is seeking a dynamic, talented, and experienced visual arts educator to join our team as a full-time faculty member in the High School. This position is responsible for teaching five sections of Visual Arts in the High School, including the development of an AP Studio Art program. Canterbury requires strong teaching skills, a deep understanding of high school students, a strong background in the arts, knowledge of best practices in pedagogy, flexibility, and the ability to collaborate closely with members of the department, administration, colleagues, and parents. Responsibilities include: Providing an excellent learning environment by fostering a nurturing, and supportive, and inclusive environment that emphasizes mutual respect and care. The active pursuit of professional development in the areas of school counseling and social-emotional development. Other general supervisory duties throughout the school day, as assigned by the division directors. Supervising students when in your care Serve as an Advisor to roughly 10 High School students Interacting appropriately with parents Attending school, professional development, and faculty meetings All other responsibilities as outlined in the employee handbook Collaborate with colleagues and contribute to theatre productions Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree or higher Experience in teaching art to high school students Excellent verbal communication skills and organizational skills Outstanding written skills for communication and documentation Knowledge about and experience with student developmental, social, emotional and cognitive needs Empathy and understanding for high school age students Ability to work successfully with colleagues on a team Flexibility, tact, and grace in talking with parents To apply: Please submit a cover letter with resume and online application to www.canterburyschool.org/employment.
