At Huaer Collegiate, teachers are committed to whole child education and therefore, play multiple roles. These responsibilities put forward a deeper level of requirements for teachers, such as the compatible vision for whole child, personalized education, rigorous attitude, outstanding academic ability, and love for education and children. The most competitive candidates will have most or all of the following credentials and experience:

• Success as principal or a senior leader in a high school setting. (Prior boarding school or residential life experience would be advantageous but not essential.)

• Notable experience supporting, and assessing secondary school teachers’ professional development.

• An advanced degree.

• Experience with the AP curriculum and programs. (Familiarity with the IB programis desirable as well.)

• A record of challenging and supporting academically ambitious students.

• The ability to learn and apply local Chinese educational standards as well as new technologies.

• An ability to collect, interpret, and disseminate data wisely, especially with respect to student performance metrics.

• A demonstrated interest in contributing to the whole child educational experience. Experience in a dual language immersion environment.

• The ability to work collaboratively and contribute to the development of an outstanding school.

• Prior international experience is not required, but preferred.

• Fluency in Mandarin is not required, but a working knowledge of the language and a willingness to learn are a plus.
