Friends Select's Lower School is seeking an Assistant Teacher to work full-time supporting Lower School teachers, starting September 2021. This position involves supporting the lead teachers in teaching core subjects, managing student behavior, supporting learners individually and in small groups, and attending to the many logistics and details key in running an effective classroom where children thrive. The full-time assistant position also involves collaborating with colleagues and administrators, performing lower school duties such as recess and dismissal duties, participating in committee work, actively supporting our Quaker philosophy, and participating fully in the life of the school. The ideal candidate will have the following: - a bachelor's degree (ideally in elementary education)
- experience teaching elementary-level children
- passion for teaching young children
- interest in continued professional development
- a strong commitment to equity and social justice
