Position Overview Community Day School in Pittsburgh invites applications for the role of Chief Financial Officer effective July 2021. We seek a proven leader who establishes and maintains cooperative working relationships, thinks critically and creatively, possesses strong organization and time-management skills, takes initiative, and is a collaborative problem solver. The ideal candidate will be able to oversee all aspects of the school’s finances with responsibilities for strategic financial planning, budgeting, accounting, and reporting. The CFO is also responsible for oversight of human resources, facilities and operations, health and safety, security, and food services. The CFO reports to the Head of School and serves as a key member of the senior leadership team and several Board of Trustees committees, and will play a crucial role in shaping the school’s culture and strategic vision for the future. - Ten or more years of experience in financial management and operations with increasing levels of job responsibility, including a minimum of three years as Chief Financial Officer, Chief Operating Officer or similar position. Independent school experience is a plus.
- Proven leader and team player who inspires others and leads by example.
- Strong sense of fiduciary responsibility.
- Ability to think strategically as well as model and analyze the business and financial impact of strategic proposals in order to make recommendations based on costs and benefits.
- Self-motivated with excellent analytical and organizational skills.
- Proactive with strong leadership and proven supervisory skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong computer skills including Google Workspace and Excel and ability to learn and use accounting software (Blackbaud).
