Ursuline Academy, an independent Catholic school for young women in Grades 7-12 in Dedham, MA, seeks a forward-thinking, results-oriented, and faith-filled Catholic leader for the role of Principal, beginning July 1, 2021. Celebrating 75 years of education in the Boston area, Ursuline seeks an educational leader who will continue its tradition of academic excellence while ensuring that the school's graduates are prepared to bring positive change to their communities and their world. Ursuline follows the President/Principal model; the Principal is the primary educational leader of the school, directly responsible to the President for the daily operation of the school and the teaching/learning process, and oversees the development of curriculum and teaching methods, consistent with best pedagogical practices and the school’s mission. Ursuline’s challenging academic program offers a primarily honors and AP curriculum, and asks that each student develop to her fullest potential. The school is in the early stages of a new strategic planning initiative, and is eager to have the Principal contribute to and lead the continued evolution of the academic and co-curricular programs, ensuring that its nearly 400 students are well prepared for the world in which they will live. The Principal is expected to build community among faculty (approximately 35 members), staff, students, and families to ensure that the mission and values of the school are infused throughout all aspects of the student experience, including arts, athletics, campus ministry, and service programs. Ursuline seeks a strong, collaborative leader who can unite the faculty and students in learning and growth, while living the school’s motto of Serviam, “I will serve.” The ideal candidate will be responsive to the school community which is deepening its work in diversity, equity, and inclusion, and will engage in and sustain this commitment in the life of the school. Successful candidates will hold a master's degree or higher from an accredited institution and possess classroom and administrative experience in education. An active listener, warm, thoughtful, and imbued with a good sense of humor, the ideal candidate will have a contagious passion for academic excellence, strong communication skills across all mediums, respect for the uniqueness of each individual and a commitment to racial equity, and a desire to join a team whose members share a commitment to Ursuline values.
