Position Overview The Innovation and Curriculum Integration Coordinator is responsible for developing the vision, curriculum, and implementation of Sinai Akiba’s multidisciplinary J-STEAM program. The Innovation and Curriculum Integration Coordinator will oversee all aspects of the preschool-8th grade J-STEAM program including education technology, design thinking, and curricular innovation and integration to further learning goals in both general and Judaic Studies. The Innovation and Curriculum Integration Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the innovation lab and all equipment and materials as well as the education technology software school wide. The Innovation and Curriculum Integration Coordinator supervises the technology teacher, the technology teaching assistant, and coordinates an integrated department including science teachers, the library teachers, art teachers, and representatives from General Studies and Judaic Studies teachers. The Innovation and Curriculum Integration Coordinator reports to the School Rabbi, coordinates closely with the Tech Director (to be sure changes conform to tech policies), and collaborates closely with the ECC & Lower School Director, Middle School Director, and Judaic Studies Director. Innovation and Curriculum Integration Goals of J-STEAM - Goal #1: To create innovators who, beginning in preschool, think creatively, explore rigorously, and problem solve resiliently.
- Goal #2: To immerse students in inspiring, generative environments that foster the creative confidence, build the technical skills, and encourage the experimentation necessary to approach real-world challenges and make meaningful contributions to the Jewish community and the world.
- Goal #3: Create cross-curricular, technology-rich experiences for all students centered around the design thinking process so that they internalize the process developing a willingness to take risks, fail, and try again.
VISION FOR TECHNOLOGY AND INNOVATION (ECC-8th Grade) - In partnership with the leadership team and with input and participation from the faculty and staff, develop and implement a strategic vision for innovation, academic technology, design thinking, and cross-curricular J-STEAM initiatives.
- Ensure that all areas of technology and innovation, from operations and infrastructure to instructional and integration, are aligned with the strategic vision and mission of the school.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT - Design, deliver, and oversee major professional development and growth experiences for faculty in areas of J-STEAM (technology integration, design thinking, innovation).
- Identify relevant outside professional development opportunities for members of the faculty and administration.
- Inspire the J-STEAM team and the broader faculty community to model and support best practices in innovation, design thinking, technology integration, and curricular research.
- Help develop a culture of exploration, experimentation, and innovation to meet the dynamic and evolving needs of an excellent 21st century school.
MANAGEMENT AND SUPERVISION - Oversee the entire J-STEAM department (technology teacher, technology teaching assistant, robotics coach) and coordinate extended J-STEAM team (library teachers, science teachers, art teacher, representatives from JS and GS staff).
- Maintain ultimate responsibility for all areas of J-STEAM operations, including: academic technology integration, innovation lab, J-STEAM library section, robotics program.
- Manage and develop the educational technology budgets, and anticipate future J-STEAM needs to meet the strategic goals of the school.
EXTERNAL PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT - Under the direction of the Head of School, research, design, and implement initiatives to help the school expand programmatically, operationally, and financially.
- Establish and maintain local, regional, and national partnerships to support the strategic goals of the innovation and technology program.
