| Who we are? Ethical Culture Fieldston School is a progressive PreK-12 independent school that has been serving students from throughout New York City and the surrounding suburbs since 1878. ECFS offers a rich curriculum in the arts, sciences, and humanities. A co-ed, nonsectarian school, it serves a diverse community of about 1,700 students on two campuses -- one in the Riverdale section of the Bronx and the other in Manhattan. Ethical Culture School, located on the Upper West Side at 63rd Street and Central Park West, is comprised of approximately 450 students Pre-K through 5th Grade and 80 faculty members.

Requirements: - Commitment to diversity, equity and social justice
- Bachelor’s degree, Masters degree preferred
- Experience teaching elementary school children
- Knowledge in delivering strategy based literacy and math instruction including:
- Contexts for Learning and TERC Investigations for math instruction
- Fountas & Pinnell assessments, Fundations and related instructional programs and approaches
- Words Their Way
- Guided reading, literature discussions, effective one-on-one conferences
- Lucy Calkin’s Writing workshop model (including effective mini lessons)
- Skilled in designing instruction that is data driven, differentiated, and actively engaging
- Familiarity with technology to support teaching including iPads and SMARTboards
- Experience in developing social studies curricula with a hands-on, developmentally appropriate focus
- Commitment to progressive education as outlined on our website
- Strong written and oral communication skills and experience communicating with constituents in various racial, ethnic, and socio-economic groups
- Initiative, creativity, flexibility, and collaboration
