Job Summary The Facilities Manager reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer and is responsible for the oversight of the physical plant, building maintenance, campus grounds, energy management, campus security, and campus cleanliness. Essential Duties and Responsibilities - Oversee the physical operation of the entire school.
- Manage the careful maintenance of buildings and grounds and cleaning programs that keep the school’s appearance in exemplary condition.
- Ensure facility readiness for day-to-day events as well as special events.
- Maintain public safety on campus and assist in the review and execution of the school’s crisis management plan.
- Help devise and manage an annual departmental budget.
- Supervise contract employees including buildings and grounds crew, security, and cleaning company. Oversee the work of all outside contractors to ensure compliance with contractual agreements and budgetary restrictions.
- Arrange bids and develop specifications for all outside contractual work.
- Develop and implement an ongoing equipment replacement program.
- Establish policies and protocols that meet all required environmental, health, and maintenance standards as required by law and work with the administration to ensure compliance with all regional, state, and federal regulations and laws as they impact the school.
- Assume responsibility for other projects as assigned by the head of school.
- Attend emergencies outside the normal school hours.
- Regularly inspect school facilities to ensure that all facilities are suitable for safe operations, and maintained in an attractive and clean condition.
- Plan, schedule, and perform preventative and ongoing maintenance tasks to ensure equipment is in proper working condition.
- Maintain knowledge regarding methods of industrial cleaning, safety practices and procedures, and health standards and hazards.
- As appropriate, solicit and analyze proposals from contractors to perform various repairs and special maintenance.
- Schedule and coordinate annual inspections per state and county regulations.
- Determine the type, amount, and delivery of maintenance and cleaning materials to support the efficient delivery of needed supplies.
- Respond to immediate safety issues to maintain a functioning educational environment.
- Coordinate appropriate facilities set-up and equipment for a variety of activities either for the school or for outside use as required.
- Estimate the time and materials costs of proposed projects to inform budgeting, planning, and accountability of actual project costs. Track and communicate the status of project requests to requestors and other interested parties to ensure timely feedback and accountability.
- Maintain manual and electronic documents, files, and records (inspection records, timesheet, work orders and requisitions, supplies, chemical storage, crisis management data, security controls, etc.) to document activities and ensure an up-to-date reference.
- Supervise cleaning and special custodial work as required.
- Maintain the ability to satisfy all physical demands: significant lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling up to 50 pounds; frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching and/or crawling; reaching above shoulder level; fine finger dexterity.
- Ability to withstand a variety of indoor and outdoor environmental conditions.
- Develop a long-term facilities plan.
The appointment will begin July 1, 2021, and is a full-time position with benefits. |
