Founded in 1914, Professional Children’s School (PCS) - a vibrant and dynamic independent school - provides a rigorous academic program with flexibility and support for remarkable students in grades 6-12. Our diverse students, from multiple states and numerous countries, pursue their academic studies at PCS in addition to their external pre-professional or professional training and work obligations in the performing arts (including dance, music, and acting), the fine arts, competitive athletics, various business pursuits, and other unique foci. POSITION SUMMARY This is an exciting opportunity for a talented professional who is passionate about education, the arts, and fundraising and is eager to make a difference. Working with the Director of Institutional Advancement, the Assistant Director is closely involved in the daily work of the Office of Institutional Advancement. Collaboratively working alongside the Director as a team, the Assistant Director will focus on the following areas. ADVANCEMENT SERVICES AND DATABASE MANAGEMENT The Assistant Director generally serves as the first point of contact for Advancement-related inquiries and correspondence and responds to donor requests, properly processes gifts and enters donor information, writes and sends acknowledgment letters with a high rate of accuracy and speed and updates and maintains donor records, administers the donor database, and assists with grant writing. The Assistant Director sends periodic pledge reminders and annual giving statements as needed. The Assistant Director assists the Director with the creation of reports for the Board of Trustees and the Institutional Advancement Committee. DONOR RESEARCH The Assistant Director assists with research of individual and institutional funders and grant writing. ANNUAL GIVING The Assistant Director assists with the School’s annual giving efforts, including copywriting and layout for print and digital solicitations. The Assistant Director will also carry a portfolio of donors and assists with donor cultivation, solicitations, and stewardship. STEWARDSHIP The Assistant Director assists with implementing a robust stewardship plan including producing and sending impact reports to donors that demonstrate how donors’ gifts are impacting the School. MARKETING AND SOCIAL MEDIA The Assistant Director is responsible for writing and laying out the Office of IA’s digital publications, including the department’s newsletter for donors and friends, the alumni newsletter, the annual report, and impact reports. Additionally, the Assistant Director is responsible for maintaining the School’s social media accounts that pertain to advancement and alumni relations. SPECIAL EVENTS COORDINATION The Assistant Director assists with the planning, execution, and coordination of special events including the School’s Spring Gala, alumni events, cocktail receptions, etc. The Assistant Director coordinates all rehearsals and production details for the annual Spring Gala. ALUMNI RELATIONS Working with the Director and the Alumni Liaison, the Assistant Director assists with all alumni-related activities, including reunion events, the publication of the alumni newsletter, and the work of the Alumni Association Council. INSTITUTIONAL ADVANCEMENT COMMITTEE The Assistant Director helps to prepare for IA Committee meetings, takes minutes at all meetings and assists the Director with follow up of action items after the meeting. OTHER DUTIES The Assistant Director completes other duties as assigned.
