The Agnes Irwin School, an all-girls' Pre-K through 12th-grade independent school in the Philadelphia suburbs, is committed to fostering the intellectual and personal growth of girls and young women. Currently, The Agnes Irwin School is seeking a dynamic and creative full-time Lower School Homeroom Teacher for the 2021-2022 academic year. At this time, we do not know which grade level will have an opening. Successful candidates will be committed to fostering the intellectual and personal growth of students through the mission of The Agnes Irwin School and the Core Values of Excellence, Character, Community, and Respect.
Responsibilities include:
- Create a positive, caring classroom community and meaningful relationships with students
- Design engaging lessons for students based on learning targets
- Manage day to day classroom activities
- Observe, document and reflect on student learning
- Implement current curriculum and contribute to its ongoing development
- Maintain consistent communication with parents and colleagues
- Collaborate with grade level partners and LS faculty to support learning goals and class projects.
- Be an active participant in the life of the school
- Participate in professional development and faculty evaluation process
Successful candidates will possess:
- Bachelor's degree is required; Master's degree and PA state certification preferred
- Successful classroom experience preferred; alternative professional experience may be acceptable
- Demonstrated expertise in differentiated instruction, as well as the field of teaching in general
- Strong interpersonal skills to include being cooperative and congenial; ability to manage students and communicate with parents and colleagues in a courteous and effective manner
- Willingness and ability to work occasional evenings and/or weekends to attend school events
