Essential Duties/Responsibilities: - Collaborate with the Design Team and grade-level teams to create and innovate, solve problems, and develop increasingly sophisticated projects and curriculum that integrate:
- Design Thinking
- 2D & 3D design
- STEAM, building (woodworking, sewing, etc.)
- Coding
- Engineering
- Tinkering
- Understand and be able to design, develop, assess, and manage a design curriculum for SK-5th.
- Daily classroom instruction; including planning and teaching a challenging course of study in a developmentally appropriate manner, with experience in differentiating instruction
- Collaborate with the tech. coordinator on curriculum and instruction and integrate existing school technologies to support creative, innovative, and engaged learning
- Prioritizing and examining inclusive curricula, teaching practice and environment
- Ongoing communication with parents, including sharing students' progress in a timely manner and as required by grade reporting protocol
- Weekly collaboration with Lower School Design Team
- Develop a clear scope and sequence of design skills for SK-5
- Stay current with required technology tools and safety practices
Qualifications: - A bachelor’s degree, an elementary teaching credential, and an advanced degree is desirable
- At least 3 years teaching experience at the elementary level, demonstrating strong instructional and classroom management skills
- A strong and sincere commitment to professional development both in teaching practice and content area
- Incorporate Anti-Bias, Anti-Racist Education and Culturally and Linguistically responsive teaching practices
- Strong interpersonal and cultural competency skills when working with students, parents, faculty, and School leadership
- Extraordinary communication and presentation skills
- Proficiency in Google Apps for Education (docs, slides, etc. and facility with iPads
- Relevant industry, job or hobbyist experience with a hands-on approach using maker skills such as woodworking, coding, electronics, sewing, etc.
- Adept with using hand tools (e.g., saws, hammers, drills, and screwdrivers)
- Knowledge of and background in 3D design and printing, coding and robotics, maker projects, and technology-assisted design
