The Peck School, a coed, K-8, independent school in Morristown, NJ, seeks a full-time Learning Specialist for the upcoming school year. The Learning Specialist plays a pivotal role in administering and overseeing academic interventions with students in grades 5 through 8, as well as supporting teacher instruction and building partnerships with families. This individual will work with students in the classroom, through a push-in model, as well as through individual and small group instruction. The learning specialist must have a keen diagnostic eye, be able to identify specific learning issues, and create (and adapt) impactful interventions and enrichment. Familiarity with relevant diagnostic assessments is essential, as well as the ability to maintain systems for documentation, including individual learning plans. In addition, as a full-time upper school faculty member, the learning specialist has the opportunity to participate in the broader life of the school in areas such as activities, sports, and advisory. The ideal candidate will be caring, creative, results-oriented, and deeply committed to helping each student succeed and grow. Because Learning Services spans various constituencies and departments, communication skills, both written and oral, are imperative. This position requires a minimum of 5 years of experience as an integral member of a learning support team, a master’s degree in a relevant field, and the ability to support learning in all subject areas. This is an excellent opportunity for an innovative and highly motivated educator to join a wonderful faculty. Please submit a cover letter, resume, and contact information for three professional references by email to learningservices@peckschool.org. Kindly reference the job title in the subject line of your email. No phone calls, please. We encourage you to visit our website, www.peckschool.org, to find out more about our program and mission. The Peck School is committed to equity, inclusion, and justice both for the community and the greater good. As we strive to create a culture of inclusion and connectedness, we welcome the unique contributions brought by individuals with diverse backgrounds and experiences. |
