Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree, preferably in elementary education, required; master’s degree and at least five years teaching experience preferred
The successful candidate will possess skills and experience that would include the ability to:
- communicate mathematics clearly
- teach a wide variety of mathematics topics, ranging from general fourth grade math through algebra
- create materials and activities that immerse students in the applications of mathematics through experiential learning
- utilize manipulatives, online resources, project-based learning, and technology in lessons for engagement and enhancement of learning
- provide feedback regarding student logic/work that enhances student understanding of mathematics
- enthusiastically provide differentiated instruction using multiple forms of data to inform flexible groupings (experience with NWEA Measures of Academics Progress a plus)
- manage a classroom environment that is efficient, comfortable, neat, attractive and engaging
- implement consistent, effective limit-setting discipline for children in a positive atmosphere
- attend overnight field trips as needed
