POSITION SUMMARY
Greenhills School seeks a full-time Technical Theater and Audio/Visual Coordinator for the 2022-23 academic year. This appointment will involve teaching students the art of theatrical production, serving as Technical Director to all middle school and upper school productions, and meeting the audio-visual needs at all daily assemblies and other school events, large group meetings, and presentations. Ideal candidates will have a related bachelor's degree or higher, a proven interest and experience in working with adolescents, and deep experience in various aspects of theater arts (sound design, lighting design, set design; stage carpentry; stage management; safety precautions and procedures) as well as audio-visual technology (live – streaming, broadcasting, recording, and video production).

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design and teach (2 sections) of Technical Theater classes.
- Collaborate with middle and upper school theatrical production teams;
- Oversee all technical aspects of production (sound, lighting, etc.)
- Convene and document pre- and post-production meetings with the production team;
- Maintain and manage schedules for all builds, load-ins, and strikes in collaboration with the team;
- Determine construction methods, schedules, materials, and mechanics for all technical needs of theatrical productions;
- Assist in recruitment, training, and assignment of student Stage Crew;
- Supervise set-construction and student Stage Crew, in conjunction with the production team;
- Maintain a neat, organized and safe production shop and backstage area;
- Monitor and maintain equipment (including lighting, sound, and rigging equipment);
- Assist with preparation and implementation of production budgets;
- Confer with the production team and make recommendations to the Arts Department Chairperson regarding capital purchases of technical equipment
- Oversee and support school assemblies, including audio-video needs;
- Orient those who might be visiting the School and presenting at School assemblies;
- Partner with the Communications Office and team to oversee and support the audio/visual demands of school events, large-group meetings, and presentations (ie live-streaming, broadcasting, recording, and video production);

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- B.A. in a related field required; master’s degree in a relevant field is preferred.
- Knowledge of standard operations and uses of basic theatrical machinery.
- Knowledge of standards of practice in the field and standards of safety and safe operation in theater and related fields.
- Several years of professional and/or teaching experience, ideally at the middle and/or secondary level, is preferred.
- Proven experience with the age group required, teaching experience at the middle or secondary level preferred.
- The ideal candidate will have substantial expertise in the field and will be:
- a student-centered educator, skilled in fostering persistent problem solving,
- knowledgeable about adolescents’ intellectual, social, and emotional development and willing to positively greet the challenges and opportunities they present,
- a professional oral and written communicator,
- eager to work collaboratively with colleagues on curriculum design, pedagogy, and assessments.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM THE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Bending, crouching, kneeling, reaching, and standing for long periods.
- Lifting, carrying, and moving work-related supplies/equipment.
- Operating power tools and other electronic sound and lighting equipment.
- This role requires the ability to remain in a stationary position as well as the ability to move about the workplace for long durations. It requires effective communication, the ability to operate machinery, tools, and controls. The role requires the ability to ascend/descend ladders/stairs, and to position one's self in low level positions. The role requires the ability to ascend sets and move in tight spaces.
- Will require periods of extended time at school outside of the regular school day.
