Sidwell Friends, a co-educational, PK-12 Quaker day school with campuses in Washington, DC, and Bethesda, MD, seeks applicants with a passion for coaching for a part-time Head Varsity Field Hockey Coach for the 2022-2023 school year.
The Head Coach will maintain a high standard of integrity in managing all aspects of the program, including fostering a culture that promotes the Quaker values of the School and integrates the school core values as the framework from which to coach and build the field hockey program from Middle School through Varsity. The ideal candidate will bring a thoughtful approach, innovative thinking, and possess a strong entrepreneurial spirit to effectively leverage our great location and facilities to attract prospects to our campus and further develop existing student-athletes.
Coaching responsibilities involve management of all facets of the field hockey program, including, but not limited to, organizing and running practices, developing and implementing effective game strategies, video analysis, and recruiting highly successful student-athletes. The ability to effectively teach the necessary skills and techniques to Middle School and Varsity players will be paramount in building a successful field hockey program. Ideal candidates will also be enthusiastic, passionate about player development, and display strong leadership and motivational skills.
The School has outstanding athletics facilities, including two new turf fields, a natural grass field, an all-weather track, four full-size gyms, an athletic performance center, a large yoga studio, and six tennis courts.
Candidates must have a minimum of 4 years of successful coaching experience at the collegiate or high school level and/or in a club setting. A bachelor’s degree is required; an advanced degree is preferred. Extensive knowledge and ties to the club field hockey community in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area are highly desirable, as is proven experience in recruiting for highly selective clubs and/or institutions.
