Germantown Academy, a coeducational PreK-12 independent school with 1,200 students in Fort Washington, PA (suburban Philadelphia), seeks a full-time, experienced, dynamic Kindergarten Teacher to start in August 2022. - Undergraduate or graduate degree in elementary education required; PA teaching certification and Master’s degree or enrollment in Master’s degree program preferred
- Minimum two years public or independent elementary school teaching experience required; lead teaching experience preferred

- Excellent oral and written communication and organizational skills
- Excellent understanding and articulation of current educational theory and practice as it relates to: early childhood, responsive classroom practices, balanced literacy framework, developmentally appropriate practices, cultural diversity, differentiated curriculum, project-based learning, service-learning, design-thinking, assessment and evaluation, technology integration, RTII, Common Core Standards, curriculum design and mapping
- Experience with instructional technology (e.g. SMART, VLE, iPads, Google apps) required
- Demonstrates strong work ethic, attendance, and punctuality
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach co-ed class of up to 16 students in literacy, math, social studies, and interdisciplinary curriculum with a focus on 21st century skills
- Direct, collaborate and plan with partnering Associate Teacher to increase opportunities for differentiating instruction, small group work, ongoing assessment and active learning for students; Mentor and provide ongoing feedback to Associate Teacher
- Establish excellent parent partnerships and communication: Write detailed student progress reports, facilitate ongoing communication with parents including program information, newsletters, parent information evenings and scheduled parent-teacher conferences
- Collaborate with grade level team and curriculum specialists to develop and implement literacy, math, social studies, and other integrated curriculum.
- Collaborate and communicate with Student Support Team and administration as needed to support students’ learning and social success at school
- Fulfill all supervisory duties as assigned before, during and after formal instructional times
- Attend and wholeheartedly engage in professional development opportunities including grade level meetings, Professional Learning Communities, Think Tanks, all-school committees, networking with other schools, professional conferences, and all required in-service and faculty meetings
- Opportunities for leading after-school activities and coaching are available and encouraged
