Sheridan School, an independent K-8 school in Washington, D.C., is seeking experienced, dynamic and collaborative Lower School teachers for the 2022-2023 school year. Lower School teachers regularly work with staff and families to effectively support the academic and social and emotional needs of their students.

The individual who fills this role will:
- Collaborate with a co-teacher in order to create a nurturing classroom environment and deliver high-quality instruction to students in the areas of social studies, reading, writing, and math.
- Align with Sheridan’s mission, philosophy and program goals
- Partner with families around their child’s educational journey, successes and challenges
- Actively participate in Mountain Campus trips, Admissions, and other important facets of the school
- Design curriculum and instruction using Understanding by Design
- Work collaboratively with the student support team on issues related to student growth and support
- Create an environment that ensures equitable and respectful care and support for students with diverse beliefs and practices and varied backgrounds
The successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree or higher in a related field, 3-5 years of experience in an elementary school, a proven ability to establish supportive relationships with all school constituencies, strong communication and writing skills, and knowledge of child development.
