Position Opening: Director of Admission
Fryeburg Academy’s Office of Admission is responsible for the school’s enrollment planning and recruitment of residential and commuting day students. The Director of Admission must be a strategic thinker who can communicate Fryeburg Academy’s central mission and the unique array of educational opportunities that it affords; maintain and build on current success and existing markets while developing connections with and tailoring message for new ones; have experience in analyzing all relevant admissions cycle data as part of the operation’s planning and marketing design; employ effective, resourceful practices in financial aid decision-making; engage colleagues in ongoing admissions-related dialogue and activities; cultivate productive relationships with students, families, feeder and peer schools, and school placement
Professionals. As a leader of the admission team, the director participates in office operations throughout the admission cycle, as well as in the ongoing cultivation of relationships with current students and families.
The Director of Admission travels extensively, oversees a staff of two to three, and reports to the Associate Head of School(AHOS). The primary responsibility of the Director is to meet the multi-year enrollment goals established by school leadership by developing an annual recruitment strategy.
Specific duties fall among the following essential functions of the job:
Admissions:
- Collaborate with the Head of School and AHOS in developing and articulating longer-term enrollment goals and objectives; track relevant demographic information and trends
- Meet prospective students and their families. Learn of a candidate's strengths, weaknesses, interests, and academic aptitude. Share information about Fryeburg Academy.
- Read applications and supporting materials. Provide evaluation of applicant credentials. Lead the admission Committee, as well as Financial Aid Committee.
- Promote Fryeburg Academy to prospective families, feeder schools, educational consultants, and referral organizations both internationally and domestically. Plan trips, present at conferences and fairs. Engage in a significant amount of international travel.
- Assist in the planning and execution of all Admission events (examples include and are not limited to Open House, FAM Tours, Informational Sessions, etc.).
- Conduct both in-person and Skype interviews
- Collaborate with admission team to optimize the admission experience for prospective students and families, maximizing the conversion of admission-appropriate students from inquiry through yield
- Follow up with families, students, educators, consultants, and school personnel in a timely manner through electronic, hand-written, & telephone forms of communication. Formulate and enhance relationships within these various constituencies.
- Collaborate with the Communications Director to ensure the admissions marketing materials are highly effective and updated as needed
- Ensure successful execution of the Daniel Webster Society and tour program.
- Ensure compliance with SEVIS and all I-20 Visa documents.
Qualifying Education and Experience
- Master’s degree preferred
- 7-10 years of teaching and/or administrative service in a school setting, with developed experience in a boarding/day-and-boarding school admission office
