The Collegiate School seeks an energetic and creative educator to serve as the Associate Director of Student Life for the Upper School (Grades 9-12). The Associate Director reports to and works closely with the Director of Student Life and shares responsibility for the design and implementation of a comprehensive student life curriculum and program that involves: the social emotional learning and life of students, advisory programming, extra-curricular activities, community engagement, and leadership development. The Associate Director will work closely with the Upper School administrative team and assists in promoting a positive student culture, school spirit, leadership opportunities, and meaningful extracurricular experiences for all students.
General Responsibilities include:
- Build meaningful relationships with individual students, student leaders, and affinity groups that can be leveraged to help each with their personal growth and development.
- Coordination of the Clubs Program including leadership development for student leaders, and selecting, evaluating and providing feedback to club sponsors.
- Assist the Director of Service Learning and Civic Engagement and the Upper School Service Council in providing and facilitating a variety of volunteer opportunities for the Upper School Collegiate community.
- Oversee traditions and annual events, including dances, Special Olympics, Senior-Faculty Picnic, Baccalaureate, and Graduation and assist in the creation of new events and experiences and the opportunity to gather.
- Organize and ensure chaperone coverage for all Upper School events. (The Associate Director is also responsible for chaperoning events on evenings and weekends.)
- Assist with the Student Cooperative Association (SCA) and help coordinate its events and social activities.
- Assist in the planning and execution of special student retreats on topics such as leadership, substance abuse prevention and education, etc.
- Work with the Student Support Team to ensure student health and well-being.
- Direct the creation and printing of the Student Planner.
- Serve as the Upper School liaison between the School’s Communications Team and Development Office to ensure all constituencies are apprised of programs and activities.
- Assist with freshman and new student orientation.
- Teaching one section, coaching and advising.

- Excellent communication skills including written communications and public speaking.
- Teaching experience and a graduate degree in a related field (preferred).
- Demonstrated interest in working with teenagers and in valuing diversity with a goal of ensuring belonging and inclusion are rooted in the day-to-day experiences of students and their families.
- Proven cross cultural competency skills demonstrating self-awareness, awareness of others and the ability to adopt inclusive perspectives, attitudes and behaviors to drive inclusion and belonging in the ongoing development and maintenance of an inclusive campus community.
