Philanthropy plays a significant role at La Jolla Country Day School. For 95 years, we have benefited greatly from the support of parents, alumni, grandparents, board of trustees, faculty, staff and friends who continue to invest in excellence and lifelong learning. Philanthropy is the distinguishing factor between a good school and an exceptional school.
The philanthropy coordinator is an integral member of the office of philanthropy, supporting and working alongside other members of the team to help set and implement the office’s strategic plan and tactics and meet fundraising goals. More specifically, it is a position that supports the office in its various fundraising efforts, from identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship. This includes, but is not limited to, data entry, donor research, report and list generation, gifts processing and event coordination.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Facilitates donor stewardship efforts;

Coordinates and assists at a variety of events, from small meetings and gatherings to fundraising galas and high-level private events;

Assists with maintaining the donor database;

Conducts prospect research;

Creates various collateral materials;

Generates reports and lists;

Processes and acknowledges gifts;

Acts as a support for all members of the office of philanthropy;

Other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements

Prior experience or interest and willingness to learn about nonprofit fundraising
-
Working knowledge of Raiser’s Edge NXT (or similar fundraising database), social media, networking sites, Photoshop and/or InDesign or similar email marketing system

Excellent attention to detail

Exceptional discretion in handling confidential information

Strong problem-solving skills

Basic graphic design skills a plus

Ability and willingness to be a team player and perform tasks as assigned

Genuine enthusiasm for nonprofit work, education and advancing LJCDS’ culture of philanthropy
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have working knowledge of Google Workspace and Microsoft Office, and be able to learn to use other applications and hardware (Blackbaud, EMS, ThankView, etc.). All school personnel must successfully complete a fingerprint background check through Live Scan and provide current tuberculosis clearance.
