POSITION OVERVIEW
The Athletic Trainer will assist the Head Athletic Trainer in the day to day operations of the Athletic Training Room. This position will be held from August 2022 until December 2022. The duties of the athletic trainer include, but are not limited to, prevention of athletic injuries, recognition, evaluation, and immediate care of athletic injuries, rehabilitation and reconditioning of athletic injuries, health care administration, and professional development and responsibility as specified in the Domains of the NATA Certified Athletic Trainer. The athletic trainer assists the Head Athletic Trainer in ensuring players participate only when physically able and are following any physician instructions. The athletic trainer will coordinate with the Sports Medicine team and the Athletic Director to ensure staffing of the athletic training room and coverage for all required events.
RESPONSIBILITIES

Assist the Head Athletic Trainer in the day to day operations of the Athletic Training Room.

Exercise supervisory responsibility for student athlete safety and discretion in making meaningful safety and health decisions.

Provide first aid, injury assessment, treatment, rehabilitation and prevention.

Act decisively and prudently in emergency and life-threatening situations .

Provide coverage at home events and practices.

Conduct IMPACT testing, baseline concussion testing, organization, and clearance for all teams. This includes communicating with Athletic Director and coaches with regards to compliance lists.

Provide injury reports to coaches, other school personnel and parents on injuries and status of student athletes under treatment.

Update medical records and treatment logs related to athletic injuries, student rehabilitation, and CIF required athletic clearance.

Act as liaison between coaches and athletes in injury matters and create modifications to practice/game when applicable.

Maintain a clean, organized, and effective athletic training room.
QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in Athletic Training or closely related field.

Current NATA BOC Certification.

Maintain current certification and continuing education requirements as set forth by the Athletic Trainers Board of Certification.

Maintain current certification in CPR/Emergency Cardiac Care.

Post certification experience desired.

Experience working with 6-12 graders at a secondary school is preferred.

Experience communicating with parents, administrators, and coaches.

Experience in Magnus Health and SportsWare (or similar record keeping programs) is preferred.

Must be able to walk and stand for long periods of time. Must be able to climb stairs and navigate uneven terrain and hillside pathways.

Must be able to carry, transport, and lift up to 50 pounds, and must be comfortable working indoors and outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.

Must have strong interpersonal communications and human relation skills.

Flexible and adaptive to schedule changes pertaining to athletic schedules.
