Mount Michael Benedictine School is a Catholic college preparatory residential/day high school rooted in Benedictine values for young men committed to excellence. Students develop spiritually, intellectually, and socially through the comprehensive curriculum and communal experience to become future leaders.

Mount Michael is seeking a Residential Dean for the 2022-23 school year. Deans are men responsible for an entire grade level of students, with a primary focus on those in our boarding program. They serve as the primary adult presence in the dorms, acting in the place of the parents and providing an example of good behavior as role models. A dean has a room and office in the dorm to enable supervision.  Daily duties include making sure boarding students get to class every morning; assisting with attendance; supervising the dorm and other common areas when students are not in class; proctoring evening study hall and bedtime; monitoring student grades and discipline; working with the Head of School, Dean of Students, and counselors to address student issues; and serving as the primary point of contact for parents. A successful dean will be patient, enjoy working with young men, be able to model good Christian behavior, and have good communication and leadership skills. Deans report directly to the Dean of Students/Director of Residence.

Most work hours are during the week, though some weekend coverage will occasionally be needed. Deans are asked to obtain a commercial driver's license and school bus permit for student transportation. Other duties, including coaching, may be available for extra pay but are not mandatory.

This job covers the school year from August to May with normal school breaks taken off. Room and board are provided in addition to the salary. Health insurance and 401(k) also provided.
