Summer Position
Drama Camp Unit Director:
One of our unique camp experiences is that of our Drama Camp. This section of camp is designed for campers in grades 5th-8th who have a love of the dramatic arts and look to spend their summer engaging in themes through the lens of performance. Drama Camp operates as a subsection of our regular camp and comes with its own daily agenda and content. It is overseen by a Drama Camp Director who is responsible for creating, planning, organizing, and implementing weekly activities, as well as managing the materials and personnel needed to execute said activities.
Drama Camp seeks to create and perform a 30-minute play that relates to the weekly theme in one-week’s time. On Monday, drama campers come together to discuss characters, plot, and outline the script. Tuesday through Thursday the set is made, costumes are chosen, and the show is rehearsed. Friday afternoon, Drama Camp performs the show for an audience of campers and parents alike.
Responsibilities:
- Create, organize, and implement weekly content as fits the week’s theme and drama program (e.g. improv games, set creation, etc.).
- Create daily schedules, lead games and activities, delegate tasks to assistant counselors, floating counselors, and counselors in training as needed.
- Communicate important information with families during pick-up and drop-off.
- Ensure health and safety procedures are followed.
- Execute tasks as given by the Camp Director and Assistant Camp Directors.
Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent. Theater experience required. Must have experience working with children.
Salary: $535.50 / week
Hours per week: 45
