Position Summary
Position Purpose: This is a part-time position teaching basic music/movement to upper preschool and kindergarten students.
Essential Functions
- Responsible for teaching music and movement to preschool/kindergarten students on a weekly basis.
- Supports and when requested, provides music in regular and special performances for school program, Masses and prayer services, community activities, concerts, and festivals.
- Works with department head in regards to planning, evaluating, and revising curricula, course content, and course materials and methods of instruction.
- Uses effective class management techniques to insure effective learning.
Required Qualifications (The MUST HAVE qualifications)
- Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or closely related field.
- Previous classroom experience with preschool or primary grade-level children.
- Covid-19 Vaccination Required
- Strong teaching ability; enjoy working with children and adolescents.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and teach a curriculum in conjunction with the Fine Arts Department.
- Strong experience with all aspects of production including but not limited to selecting appropriate material and inspiring budding talent.
- Collaborative spirit and collegial nature to support a positive working relationship with teachers.
- Fluency in reading, writing and speaking in English.
- Excellent verbal and written skills, as well as outstanding interpersonal skills.
- Obvious passion for music and movement.
- Willingness to adapt to an existing curriculum as well as contribute ideas to enhance the respective academic programs.
- Excellent attendance and punctuality.
- Must comply with all state vaccination requirements and show proof of vaccination including but not limited to COVID-19 or proof of eligibility for exemption.
- A clear commitment to the educational philosophy of the school as articulated in the Goals and Criteria of Sacred Heart Schools and professional behavior based in it. Commitment to equity and inclusion.
Preferred Qualifications (The NICE TO HAVE qualifications)
- Master's degree in Early Childhood Education or closely related field.
- Teaching credential and experience in an independent school and/or Catholic school strongly preferred.
