Position Summary
Essential Job Functions
In conjunction with the head coach, provides instruction to athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy and physical training necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success.
In conjunction with the head coach, provides instruction that will lead to the formulation of moral values, strong work ethic, responsibility, team work, sportsmanship, selfdiscipline, leadership, and selfconfidence
In conjunction with the head coach, maintains discipline and works to increase morale and cooperation within the school athletic program and school community
May be responsible to report game results to athletic department immediately after contest is finished under the direction of the head coach.
In conjunction with the head coach, responsible for transporting via team van team players to/from contests
In conjunction with the head coach, supervises practices and games
Updates knowledge of technical aspects of the assigned sport and willingness to continue to learn and examine new ideas pertinent to the assigned sport or coaching in general
In conjunction with athletic department/head coach, issues/collects uniforms at the beginning and end of season. Ensures that appropriate practice gear is worn during daily practices.
Updates the head coach/athletic director frequently during season about any issues, concerns, or highlights
Qualifications
A clear commitment to the mission of the school as articulated in the Goals and Criteria of Sacred Heart Schools and models professional behavior in it.
Proven ability to support in the organization and supervision a sports program/team.
Good role model and demonstrated excellent ethics
Knowledge of the concepts, strategies, rules and regulations of the sport
Demonstrated coaching and/or playing experience preferred
High School Diploma or GED equivalent
Excellent verbal communications skills.
Demonstrated leadership and facilitative skills.
Demonstrated excellent attendance and punctuality. Must be able to be at practice/contests which may take place in mid-afternoon or evenings during the week as well as on Saturdays.
Current First Aid, CPR and AED Certification
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
Works in a semi-stressful environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines and a varied and diverse array of contacts.
Work in outside weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold.
Tasks involve the ability to exert heavy physical effort in heavy work, including climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling, and lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials weighing 20 to 50 pounds
