The Northwest School is a college-preparatory, co-educational independent school near the heart of downtown Seattle. We offer a rich and challenging program to about 450 students in grades 6 through 12, including international students, many of whom live in our campus dormitory.

The Executive Assistant to the Head of School provides complex and high level administrative support to the Head of School and the Board of Trustees. The Executive Assistant exercises initiative and confidentiality in handling budgets, projects, tasks and problems. Work includes preparing budget reports; schedule/planning meetings; managing calendars and appointments. The Executive Assistant also manages the day-to-day operations, handles inquiries from community members and follows-up on emerging issues.
This is a full time position and is available in June, 2022.
Qualifications
- All candidates must demonstrate a commitment to the schools mission, values, and philosophy, especially related to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and environmental sustainability
- An Associates degree and 5 years of related experience providing administrative support to executive-level staff and board(s) of directors required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job
- High level of competence with MS Office suite, particularly Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint
- Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple tasks and responsibilities simultaneously and meet relevant deadlines
- Demonstrated ability to anticipate next steps, take initiative, and apply sound judgment
- Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality in sensitive, complex, and/or controversial situations
- Strong writing skills; experience in drafting agendas, correspondence, presentations, reports, and other written documents
- Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills
- Self-starter with ability to work both independently and on collaborative teams
- Courteous, personable, and flexible with changing priorities; able to build and maintain effective working relationships
- Successful experience working with diverse populations and diverse working styles
- Experience working in a nonprofit environment preferred
