The stipend for this position is $6,500.
Lakeside School, an independent coeducational day school located in North Seattle, is currently recruiting for a Middle School Camp Assistant Director for the Summer School Programs for Summer 2020. The Investigative Learning Camp (ILC) offers students entering grades 5-8 the opportunity to take classes covering STEAM-based topics and to engage in fun afternoon activities. Creative play is the focus of all of the classes. The ILC Assistant Director works from June 27 – July 29.
Responsibilities
This position reports to the Director of Summer School Programs and ILC Director. The ILC Assistant Director is responsible for assisting the ILC Camp Director with the oversight of the four-week program.
- Assist the ILC Director and Summer School Programs Director in planning and running the ILC faculty orientation and counselor orientation.
- Work with ILC Director and counselors to plan and supervise all ILC activities.
- Assist the Camp Director in supervising and mentoring the group of high-school aged counselors.
- Coordinate with the ILC Director to manage the camp check-in and check-out process, as well as track class attendance and manage follow-up with parents/guardians.
- Assist with planning and implementing COVID-response procedures (vaccination tracking, cleaning protocols, etc.).
- Serve as a substitute teacher in ILC classes as needed.
- Work with counselors to collect photos of camp activities.
- Work closely with the Summer School Programs Director and ILC Director to create a positive, engaging camp environment.
- Working with ILC director to supervise camp set-up and pack-up processes.
- Other duties as assigned by the Summer School Programs director.
Compensation and Benefits
The stipend for this position is $6,500.

- At least a bachelor’s degree, master’s degree preferred.
- Several years of experience working with middle school-aged or high school-aged students.
- Knowledge of Lakeside’s academic program and standards of excellence.
- Leadership experience with a group of adults.
- Curriculum development experience and classroom experience that helps to inform the teacher evaluation process.
- Demonstrated enthusiasm for experiential learning.
- Strong organizational skills and exceptional oral and written communication skills.
- A great sense of humor.
- The ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
Additionally, candidates must satisfactorily complete two criminal backgrounds check.
