Milton Gottesman Jewish Day School is seeking an experienced learning specialist and educator to join its student support team. The learning specialist will help assess learning needs and provide individual and small group academic support to diverse learners, both in and out of the classroom, in reading, writing, math, and executive functioning within elementary and middle school. A background in special education and specialized training in reading and writing interventions is ideal for this role. Additional knowledge of and experience with providing support in Judaic Studies is preferable, but not required.
The learning specialist will work closely with teachers to plan and co-teach, provide support with differentiation, and offer consultation on accommodating a range of learning styles in the classroom. Supervised by the Director of Student Support Services, they will collaborate with other learning specialists, counselors, and division directors to better understand and meet the needs of students across grade levels. Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential in this position, as the learning specialist will develop individualized student support plans, communicate with parents about student needs, interventions, and progress on a regular basis, as well as collaborate with other professionals, including outside tutors and other providers.
The learning specialist job is a full time 10 month position. Master’s degree in Education or Special Education required. Minimum of 3-5 years post graduate experience. Salary range is commensurate with education and level of experience.
