Midland School, a distinctive, co-educational boarding school for grades 9-12, is seeking an enthusiastic, skilled, and hardworking humanities faculty member to join our educational community. You will also be involved in supporting the school’s ongoing Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Justice work. This is a full-time (+/- school year work schedule) and salaried (DOE) position with full benefits and on-campus housing. (¾-time position for a non-resident employee is also possible.) Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Teach 3-4 sections (TBD: Modern California History, U.S. History, social science elective, Senior Thesis)
Work with Deans to further Midland’s Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Justice goals
Coach or lead 2 activity/athletic seasons per year
Serve as a student advisor and supervise students in a residential setting
Vigorous participation as a faculty & community member

Minimum Qualifications
B.A. or higher
Prior relevant teaching experience
Enthusiasm for working with teenagers
Highly motivated, organized, and hard working
Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
Sense of humor and friendly demeanor
Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision
Successful passing of criminal & driving background checks
Health clearance for TB screening & vaccinations
Desired Qualifications or Experience
Related academic degree (M.A. or PhD)
Secondary school teaching experience
Experience in strategic planning, supporting, and developing diversity and inclusion initiatives in school or community settings
Boarding or residential educational environments
Other skills and interests to share with our community – e.g., coaching athletics & activities, elective classes, performing arts (please share specifics via cover letter in the application)
Wilderness First Aid or Responder certification
