Overview
This position is responsible for facilitation of the EA Sports Academy program. Specifically, teaching electronic arts, technology, design, marketing, and ethics will provide foundational instruction for students with a passion for gaming. Coaching the EA Sports Academy competitive team will be an important aspect of the position.
This curriculum will be embedded into the Montverde Academy EA Sports Academy. This includes planning and implementing meaningful learning experiences with an emphasis on collaboration, communication, problem solving, critical thinking, and relationship building. The curriculum strives to create authentic, problem-based learning experiences so students may develop skills in preparation for college level programs designed to offer degrees in electronic arts technology and design along with other programs centered on innovation.
This position reports directly to the Educational Technology and Innovation Center Director and ultimately to the Dean of the Upper School.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Instructional
- Demonstrates a commitment to problem-based, authentic learning experiences

- Employs a variety of teaching methods to engage different learning styles and ability levels in the classroom
- Prepares motivating and stimulating lessons that reflect knowledge of the curriculum, child development, and student abilities
- Encourages an inclusive classroom that accepts the different perspectives and backgrounds of the students and elicits a greater understanding of the world around them with a global perspective
- Utilizes a variety of assessments and uses data in the classroom to develop lessons and instructional activities as needed Teaching and Learning Environment
- Creates a learning environment that is motivating and age appropriate, setting clear expectations and selecting instructional resources that support the classroom learning.
- Seeks actively to know students’ strengths and weaknesses and responds promptly and with care to parent concerns. Communicates effectively with parents, colleagues, and administrators
- Demonstrates strong classroom management skills.
- Coaching the MVA EA Sports team, managing the team and assisting to identify talented Electronic Arts and gaming competitors. Managing some student workers and overseeing the Esports facilities on campus. Running camps and clinics throughout the year and during the summer.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree required. Prior teaching experience, a Master’s degree, and the ability to contribute meaningfully to extracurricular programming are preferred. Strong experience in the competitive gaming industry is essential.
- Candidates must have excellent writing, technological, interpersonal, and organizational skills
Physical Requirements:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand/sit for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to ascend and descend stairs, including stooping or crouching.
- Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
- Constantly uses speech and hearing to communicate with a diverse population.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision
- Occasionally moves/lifts up to 25 pounds.
